I have looked into this further.

I would hold off on this for awhile.  The best test case that I have for
this one is a test application we are developing that is a workflow
engine.  It currently runs in the ilc grade.  I have yet been able to
test it on the il grade (I had only just succeeded in compiling the
library in the il grade when I went on holidays).  When I can build this
application then I think that would be the time to switch to making il
the default.  Hopefully that is soon.
