I don't believe that your experience (or mine, for that matter) is
relevant to the discussion. As far as I have seen, you (and I) spend
most of our time running the compiler and testing the system with a
variety of different options, in order to reproduce problems that others
have reported and test out new code.
This is a fundamentally different style of use than most users.
A user is giving feedback here, and you are not allowed to counter it
with the defence that the developers of the system don't use the system
that way. IMHO it defeats the entire purpose of user feedback -- which
is to tell you things the developers don't already know.
