Research Assistant Position Available
Chair of Programming and Software Engineering
Department of Computer Science
LMU (Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, Germany)

As part of our commitment to highly competitive research in constraint
programming, we are seeking to employ as soon as possible a research
assistant for a period of two years, with possible further extensions.
The position is funded by a German government project on combining
functional and constraint logic programming with applications to
interactive visual interfaces and the processing of diagrammatic
information. Participation in the project and its adminstration is
expected, and therefore basic knowledge of German is helpful. Teaching
opportunities and supervision of graduate students are available, but
are not required.
The department of computer science is located right at the "English
Garden", the huge gardens and woods along the river Isar passing right
through the city center. Wealthy Munich is Germanys high-tech capital
and largest academic city. Its surroundings feature lakes and the Alps.
Salary is roughly US$3,000 per month. Deadline for applications and
starting date is May 1, 1999. Applicants should have a master or Ph.D
in Computer Science with research experience in constraint reasoning,
logic programming and/or functional programming. Experience in spatial
or diagrammatic reasoning would be an advantage.
If you have questions or want to apply, fill in the form below as soon
