[m-dev.] mmc and libc problem

/home/mercury/public/mercury-latest/i686-pc-linux-gnu links to
/home/ceres.

The version of mmc in /home/ceres is compiled to use glibc 2.3.2.

However, not all machines have this version of glibc installed.  Does
anyone have a problem with updating all the machines to glibc 2.3.2?
mmc won't work with earlier versions.
