I'm not sure how well known this is, but people may well be interested
in
www.cacheprof.org

cacheprof instruments the output from gcc to collect memory access and
cache
miss statistics for each line of source code.  It will also print out 
summaries on a per procedure and whole program basis.  You can configure
the
model of the cache used by cacheprof.
