Did you mean "work, except that those reading the newsgroup only will
miss half of the messages", or did you find a solution to the news
flakiness problem?

Note that when inews fails, it prints an error message but still
returns a successful exit status.  Since it is running under procmail,
the error message will probably go to /dev/null, and so failures will
be silently ignored.
