Oh. My. Goodness.  Thank you for a detailed exposition of the
alternates on how to startup a C/Mercury system.  And thank you
for considering putting in a start-up predicate for C to call to
initialise the Mercury libraries:  with large, preexisting, systems
such a call will help those who would like to try Mercury for
a bit of the program logic without being required to rewrite
their systems whole-hog.
