[mercury-users] Sluggish XML parsing

Hmm yes I saw that, but xml.parse.chars seemed to compile faster than
xml.parse, which was the real problem. (Generated a C file that took gcc
200+ Mbs of RAM and several hours to compile, too...)

Any idea about the runtime performance issues?
