                   1ST SCOTTISH FUNCTIONAL PROGRAMMING WORKSHOP
            August 29th - September 1st, 1999, University of Stirling

                        ***** CALL FOR PARTICIPATION *****

        INTRODUCTION

        The 1st Scottish Functional Programming Workshop will be  held  at
        the  University  of Stirling from the 29th of August to the 1st of
        September. The Workshop  will  cover  all  aspects  of  Functional
        Programming.  All  participants are normally expected to present a
        paper, which will appear in the draft  proceedings.  Subsequently,
        papers  will be refereed for publication in the final proceedings.
        Potential participants are asked  to  submit  a  2  page  extended
        abstract - see below.

        NOTIFICATION OF INTEREST

        If you would like to attend the Workshop then please notify one of
        the  co-ordinators  below,  by  2nd  April giving your name, email
        address, postal address, telephone number, FAX number  and  status
        i.e. postgraduate student, academic, academic with research grant,
        or industrial/commercial.

        You should also join the mail list:

        SUBMISSION OF EXTENDED ABSTRACT

        Extended abstracts of papers  for  presentation  at  the  Workshop
        should   be  2  A4  pages  long.  Abstracts  should  be  submitted
        electronically, by 30th April, to one of the co-ordinators below.

        Abstracts should be in  ASCII  text  or  Postscript  or  Word  for
        Windows  format.   In  the  latter  cases, sensible font sizes and
        margins should be used i.e. minimum 10 point + 2 cm margins.

        The abstract should provide a brief summary  of  the  work  to  be
        presented and should indicate what additional material will appear
        in the final  paper.   It  should  start  with  your  name,  email
        address,  postal  address, telephone number, FAX number and status
        i.e. postgraduate student, academic, academic with research grant,
        industrial/commercial.

             26th March:        Workshop announcement
             2nd April:         Preliminary indication of interest
             30th April:        Submission of 2 page abstract
             14th May:          Notification of acceptance - FIRM DATE
             30th July:         Registration - FIRM DATE - with money or invoice
             20th Aug:          Submission of paper - FIRM DATE
             29th Aug-1st Sept: Workshop

        REGISTRATION FEES

        All prices include VAT. All fees include:  3  days  accommodation;
        all  meals;  breaks; draft and final proceedings; afternoon outing
        to Glenturret Distillery and Southern Highlands

             Student rate:               150 pounds
             Staff rate:                 200 pounds
             Grant-supported staff rate: 250 pounds
             Corporate rate:             400 pounds
             En-suite supplement:         11 pounds
