I've commited the change now, after testing on:

    Linux x86-64 (glibc, musl)
    Linux i686 (glibc)
    Linux aarch64 (musl)
    OpenBSD x86-64
    FreeBSD x86-64
    MinGW-w64 x86-64 (cross compiled, didn't run the test suite but Prince works)
    MinGW-w64 i686 (ditto)
