I've made more progress with the book.

I have converted the text-only form I was working with to LaTeX since
there's now enough text there that it's preferable to do proof-reading
on something easily legible.  So far LaTeX has not been a problem, but
then I haven't asked it to do anything clever.

I've attached the current state of the book - as ever, feedback much
appreciated (I am aware that much of what is there is in need of more
attention.)

With a little luck and a following wind, I'm aiming at having a very
rough, but largely complete, draft by the end of this month.
