Thanks for spotting that one; I thought I'd checked for those errors
before checking it in.

The @multi_map@ uses @ as the \MakeShortVerb character, so it should be
the same as \verb{multi_map} - but for some reason, one has to escape
underscores when these things appear inside brackets.  The definition of
\XXX is just

\newcommand{\XXX}[1] {{\small\textbf{XXX} \emph{#1}}}

LaTeX is so odd sometimes.  Any gurus out there with an explanation?
