What about on the more meaningful benchmarks, such as the compiler itself?

I think you should commit your changes to the existing code, and commit
the MPS code itself in a module of its own. That way, people's workspaces
won't be cluttered with a directory they don't use, but they can get
Mercury working with MPS if they want to.
