[m-dev.] incomplete changes to the user guide

Would people object if I committed my changes to the user guide
as I went along? It would leave the guide in a disrupted state, with
ZZZs and stray paragraphs lying around, in a not-really-usable state.
This would last only until I finish the series of changes we discussed
recently, and I expect that to take about ten days to two weeks.
I could add a sentence to the start of the guide about this disruption,
but I don't think it would help, since people don't usually read the guide
linearly.
