This is now fixed.

For anyone interested, it was mostlikely caused by the upgrade from etch to
lenny on uranus (the cvs server).  This upgrade allowed certain ldap filters to
apply to user accounts with accidently disqualified the 'cvsuser' account from
being valid on this host.  The LDAP entry for cvsuser has been fixed and we've
also upgraded from bsd-inetd to xinetd.
