Flexibility helps, but safety was the big thing.

So I think this is better said:

The short time frame of the contest
meant that programming languages that help programmers to build complex
systems quickly should give an advantage.  (see the report on the

Yes.

Using 
	:- type unit_vector ---> unit(vector).

would have helped us a lot, had we started using it from the start.

Surely they can (and already have) written their own web pages then!

I like putting it this strongly -- we did have the largest team.
