question about excess.m, simplify.m, and dnf.m

Hi,

I have some questions for Simon and Zoltan.

Simon, when you merged the excess.m pass into simplify.m,
you left excess.m around. Currently excess.m is used only by dnf.m.
Is there any good reason for keeping excess.m around?

Zoltan, is there any reason why dnf.m needs to called
excess_assignments_proc directly? Would running simplify.m
sometime after dnf.m work just as well?
