if you intend to learn Mercury by Bratko's book, you should visit 
http://www.logicaltypes.com/ of Doug Auclair: He has contributed some 
extensions, which might be very interesting to you. Besides, I think I 
read somewhere that Bratko is his favourite textbook.

With his extensions, you can stay much closer to the book.
