I tried it last year and it didn't work.  From memory it failed
parsing some of the Mercury runtime typedefs for pthreads types.  I
think I put something about it on the Mercury mailing lists.

I have never had trouble with it trying to install hlc.par.gc, and I
think Mercury will now only try and install *.par when pthreads.h is
present.
