[mercury-users] tabled_for_io attribute

I've just written some foreign code which takes an IO state. In the
debug grades this code seg-faulted and I couldn't work out why.

Eventually I discovered adding the undocumented tabled_for_io attribute
to my foreign procs fixed my crashes.

Can someone please explain what this attribute does?

Also why it isn't documented? As it seems to be necessary for some code.
