Okay I've tried something like this before, and the result I get is:

configure: error: Cannot determine the length modifier for the MR_Integer 
type.

because mingw is a cross compiler and the Mercury configure script
purposefully dies in a number of places if the C compiler is a cross
compiler.

What to do?
