Yep, I did.

I must have had a typo in the type declaration.  When
I first removed the 'none' in the event type, I began
to get compiler error messages about 'undiscriminated
union not implemented'.  This led me to the erroneous
conclusion that I had an undiscriminated union.

I was surprised at the time, because it seemed like a
pretty elementary feature that I was trying to use.

I've just changed my code back - and it works.  Sorry
for any bother.
