Perhaps not in so many words, but it is a shame that construction and
deconstruction require different syntax.  The problem is discussed in
David Jeffery's PhD thesis [1], where he also proposes some alternative
solutions that may be better than the 'new functor' requirement.
Implementing one of those solutions is future work, however.
