Ah...

The URL points to a human-edited directory of the web that uses a 2D map
metaphor (rather than a tree/DAG structure a la Yahoo).  The map is
superimposed on an outline of the Antarctic.  It's rather cute, I think.

The Mercury web site is currently enjoying a period of Splendid Isolation
with no visible neighbours at all.
