[mercury-users] Microsoft's Support

Its a very human tendency to anthropomorphise a corporation into one single
person, but just as all Americans arn't Bill Clinton, all microsofties arn't
Bill Gates. As humans we try to make sense out of abstractions such as
large organizations by simplifying then into monolithic cosmic forces, but
the reality is much more complex. Some groups within Microsoft, and even
more particularly, some people within microsoft are (*gasp*) actually
"good guys", if you bother to look beyond the predudicial stereotyping.

For example, I recently got a chance to chat with Lucy Vanderwende of the
NLP group. She's one of the genuinely nicest and sweetest people you'll
ever hope to meet, in addition to being one of the top computational
linguists.

I realize this exhortation to open-mindedness is a bit self-serving, coming
as I do from the other half of "Wintel", but really, we're not all evil.
Not all of the time anyways :-)
