Good question.  (I did eventually find the thread you were referring to [not 
the one I remembered] under the descriptive heading ``Mercury needs a 
Tutorial'' ;-], along with a description of the initialisation order 
problem.)

I daresay this will be discussed at the next HAL meeting.
