Thanks for that. Attached is the rest of changes called for by the
new warnings, again for review by anyone. (There was a lot of unnecessary
passing of state vars, so it's big.)

I have bootchecked an earlier version of this diff with -O5 --intermod-opt
in hlc.gc, asm_fast.gc and in a debug grade, but will repeat all three
before commit.

This evening, I expect to post for review an entry for NEWS.md.
