I had thought 'clobbered' was somehow more fundamental than 'dead' but
it seems that 'dead' was used exclusively in the reference manual until
'clobbered' showed up in a list of reserved inst names in commit 235ae38
(and otherwise not described).
If we keep 'dead' I will add a brief explanation of why 'clobbered' is
reserved.
