I've read the diff and looked at the new autopar_find_best_par.m file (after
applying the diff).

I'm generally happy with these changes.  However, I would like to try to solve
the mystery of the unused variable production times map.  There's also some
minor corrections and cases where code can be further simplified.  It's going
to be easier to correct these with a later commit after you commit your work.
So I won't do this until you're ready.
