Why?  The Cygwin and MSYS documentation already describes how each of
them handles directory path translation; the point of this README is
not to provide an introduction to either of them.
The point that paragraph is trying to make is simply that in Cygwin you
can give either a Unix style or a Windows style path to Mercury's
configure script.
