I've had a look through the diff and can't see anything obviously wrong.
Two of our machines were missing crontabs for the mercury user (for
various reasons) and don't have a recent enough Mercury compiler
installed.  I've replaced the crontabs and manually started the nightly
builds, so you can commit this  on Friday.
