We found that the workspace installed on pluto on July 19 crashes during
"mmc --make foo" if compiled in grade asm_fast.gc.debug.tr, but apparently
works when installed, in which case it is compiled in grade hlc.gc.
My recreations of earlier versions, the ones that all crashed on that test,
were all in asm_fast.gc.debug.tr. Is that a useful clue? Was the buggy rename
on an LLDS-only execution path?
