When files are deleted from CVS with "cvs remove" (aka "cvs rm" their
version history is kept.  Inside the repository a .attic file is created
that contains the past history of these files before they where deleted.
Branches are managed in a similar way when I file exists in a branch
other than the main branch and doesn't exist in the main branch.

The problem is that the histories of the old files are not referenced by
the new files.

You might like to test this in a test repository to be confident it
works.
