There will probably still be some debate about the design.
However, we have been back and forth on the design issues,
and I think that it is unlikely that we will reach complete concensus.
At this point I think it may be best to get this change into the compiler,
documented as an implementation extension rather than as a standard part of the
language, and then try to get some experience with using it.

But I do think the code for this needs to be reviewed.
I won't have time to review this until at least 27th March.
Anyone else interested in reviewing this?
