No. I think the reason why noone deleted it before is simply that
being small, it was not affected by changes elsewhere, and thus
noone has looked at it in a long time.

Go ahead and delete it.

We should also delete support for Alpha in configure and the runtime.
The last Alpha system was sold in 2007, according to wikipedia.
