I'm currently testing and documenting a change which will
fix the library problems on Solaris/x86 and make it easier
to use shared libraries on Linux.

Currently there is no way to set the defaults on Solaris/x86
so that linking with Mercury libraries (other than the standard
library) and debugging both work (-ldl only works when linking
with `ml --shared').
