Missed one thing -- this change also includes a few minor changes to
add a null value to MLDS (e.g. NULL pointer) and use it instead of zero.  

The affected files are mlds, ml_unify_gen and mlds_to_c. 

Please disregard the changes involving null.  I will commit them
separately as there are a few more that didn't make it into this diff.
