And C uses braces for nested blocks, Pascal uses braces for comments, tcl
uses braces for just about everything and Prolog uses braces to escape
code in DCG clauses, so although Mercury would not be the first to use
them for tuples, the fact that somebody else does it doesn't seem *so*
compelling.

Incidentally, can { and } be used on their own as functors? They look like
curly comparison operators to me :)
