On murlibobo:

> mmake configure
./config.status
creating Mmake.common
sed: There are too many commands for the s%@READLINE_LIBRARIES@%-lreadline -ltermcap%g function.

Compaq's /bin/sed only allows 99 commands.
The best work-around is probably to install GNU sed.
