People,

I just tried building in the compiler directory:

gmake[1]: *** No rule to make target `../trace/libmer_trace.a', needed by `mercury_compile'.  Stop.

There's as yet nothing in the trace directory. Maybe it's worthwhile
populating it with a stub libmer_trace.a or removing the dependency.
