Your HO is correct, IMHO. I think it's quite a good idea to release reasonably
often, and I think there is enough new things in the NEWS file to warrant a
(minor) release. I agree with your comments about type classes: although the
changes to support them will (hopefully) be committed quite soon, I expect
that we will then need to hold off for a while before releasing.
Then again, my code is always Bug Free(TM), so you never know :).
